FLU & COVID VACCINE PROGRAMME

Our Autumn/Winter 2024 Flu and COVID vaccine programme is currently running.

Please phone to schedule an appointment for your vaccine. Alternatively, if you arrive at the practice we will do our best to give you your vaccine then and there.

List of adults eligible for free flu vaccine

  • All patients 60 years of age and over

  • Pregnant women

  • Those with a chronic illness

    • e.g. heart or cardiovascular disease, liver disease, neurological disease, renal failure, chronic respiratory disease, diabetes

  • Children and adults with Down’s Syndrome

  • Children and adults with neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. cerebral palsy, intellectual disability)

  • Residents of nursing homes

  • Healthcare workers

  • Household contacts of vulnerable people

We also offer a private flu vaccine service for those not covered by the HSE but who still wish to receive it. 

List of adults eligible for free COVID-19 vaccine

You can get a free COVID-19 booster at Eastgate Medical if you are: 

You must leave time between your booster and your last COVID-19 booster or COVID-19 infection. This is normally 6 months.
Some people who need protection sooner, can get their booster 3 months after their last COVID-19 booster or COVID-19 infection.

Children under 12 must go to a walk-in COVID vaccine clinic provided by the HSE. Children under 16 years must attend their vaccination with a parent or guardian.

 

CHILDHOOD NASAL FLU VACCINE

You can get a free nasal flu vaccine at Eastgate Medical if you are 2 to 17 years of age. The nasal flu vaccine for children has been given to children in Ireland since 2022. 

The vaccinator will spray once into each nostril and it does not hurt. Some children who have chronic health conditions may need 2 doses, given 4 weeks apart. 

Only a very small number of children and young people will not be able to get the nasal flu vaccine because of medical reasons. 

Children under 16 years must attend their vaccination with a parent or guardian.
