FLU VACCINE PROGRAMME

Our Winter 2023 Adults and Children Flu vaccine programme is currently running.

 

Our scheduled flu-clinics have finished. If you would like to get your flu vaccine (adult or child) you can pop in to the surgery at any time and we will endeavour to give you your flu vaccine there and then.

List of adults eligible for free flu vaccine

  • All patients 65 years of age and over

  • Pregnant women

  • Those with a chronic illness

    • e.g. heart or cardiovascular disease, liver disease, neurological disease, renal failure, chronic respiratory disease, diabetes

  • Children and adults with Down’s Syndrome

  • Children and adults with neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. cerebral palsy, intellectual disability)

  • Residents of nursing homes

  • Healthcare workers

  • Household contacts of vulnerable people

List of children eligible for free flu vaccine

All children age 2 to 12

Young people age 13 to 17 can also get the free nasal flu vaccine if they have:

  • a long-term medical conditions such as diabetes, chronic conditions of the heart, liver or kidney, and chronic lung disease or neurological diseases

  • cancer

  • an impaired immune system due to disease or treatment 

  • a body mass index (BMI) of over 40

  • Down syndrome

  • regular contact with poultry, water fowl or pigs

They can also get the free nasal flu vaccine if they:

  • are carers

  • live in the same house as someone who is at risk of flu because of a medical condition

  • live in a long-term residential care facility
